A clear picture of your IT environment, from discovery to roadmap.

WBM’s IT Discovery & Assessment gives organizations across Western Canada a complete, documented view of their current technology. We look at infrastructure, security posture, key applications, and how your people actually work. From there, we build a roadmap grounded in where you are today, with priorities and costs that reflect your actual situation.

End User Survey

Most IT decisions get made without asking the people most affected by them. WBM distributes a structured 27-question survey to employees at all levels of your organization, capturing how your team currently uses technology, where friction is highest, and what they need to do their best work. A 60% response rate target means the findings reflect how technology actually works across your organization. Those insights feed directly into the roadmap recommendations that follow.

Technical Onsite Discovery

A WBM Technical Analyst visits your site documenting and cataloguing every supportable IT asset: servers, workstations, networking equipment, firewalls, and backup infrastructure. We assess your current environment against WBM’s support standards and produce a complete inventory your team can rely on. That technical foundation lets us scope your transition accurately and sequence onboarding around what we actually find.

Key Application Workshop

Your critical applications define what a disruption actually costs your organization. In a focused 30-minute workshop, WBM works with your key personnel and IT staff to document the software your people depend on most, understand your tolerance for downtime, and identify the dependencies that need to be managed through any transition. That picture gives us the risk profile and sequencing we need to build your roadmap.

Executive Visioning Discussion

Technology decisions stick when leadership is aligned on where the organization is headed. WBM facilitates a 45-to-60-minute roundtable with your executive team to understand your business direction, your technology philosophy, and the role IT should play in delivering your outcomes. The result is a shared frame of reference that keeps your roadmap grounded in business priorities alongside technical ones.

Roadmap & Financial Model

Within 10 business days of the onsite discovery, WBM delivers a full findings presentation. It includes your current state documentation, an initial technology roadmap, and a financial model covering managed services pricing and transformation project estimates. The roadmap opens an ongoing conversation about priorities, projects, and pace. It is a starting point, built to be refined as your needs evolve.

Alberta Municipalities has recently onboarded with WBM for Managed IT Services and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. Their attention to detail and seamless transition has brought noticeable improvements to our environment from week one. From new Surface devices to live support, WBM continues to receive high praise from our staff every day. As the technology leader for our organization, this helps me focus on other things knowing our operations are in good hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

From kickoff to roadmap delivery, the process typically runs six to eight weeks. The onsite discovery is a single business day. The end user survey runs concurrently in the weeks leading up to the onsite, and WBM delivers the roadmap presentation within 10 business days of completing the technical work.
We tour the physical space as well as talk to end users to find out how they are utilizing the technology within their roles.  That allows us to document your servers, workstations, firewalls, switches, access points, and backup infrastructure, and measure what you have against WBM’s support standards, identify where your environment needs attention, and produce a complete asset inventory as part of the findings. That inventory is yours to keep regardless of what comes next.
For the onsite discovery, we ask that someone with system and physical access is available for ad hoc assistance throughout the day. The executive visioning discussion requires your leadership team for roughly an hour. Beyond that, we work around your team’s schedule and don’t require sustained involvement to run the process.
WBM walks you through the findings, the recommended priorities, and the associated costs. From there, you decide what to act on, in what order, and at what pace. There is no obligation attached to the discovery process.
The discovery produces documented findings: an asset inventory, a current state assessment, and a roadmap built around your specific environment. WBM runs this process the same way regardless of how straightforward or complex your situation is. What you get at the end is an accurate picture of where you stand and what a path forward would realistically involve.
