WBM Technologies Advances Their March to a Million Goal Through New Partnership with the University of Saskatchewan

SASKATOON, SK – Oct 1st, 2024 – WBM Technologies is proud to announce a new partnership with the University of Saskatchewan, furthering the company’s “March to a Million” initiative— a five-year commitment to creating positive impact for people and communities across Western Canada.

As part of this initiative, WBM Technologies has established a financial award to support undergraduate Indigenous students in the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan. This bursary, which totals $6,000, will be awarded annually over a three-year period, beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year, with each recipient receiving $2,000 per year.

“The WBM Indigenous Students Bursary will help bridge the gap that many Indigenous students experience with their technology. It is not uncommon that we have students come through our doors with almost obsolete technology and career aspirations larger than life. We need to ensure they are set up to achieve their aspirations and this bursary will allow us to do just that. This is one way to address the systemic gaps in post-secondary education for Indigenous students and it’s one that will have an immediate impact not only on their education but their personal lives. They can stay better connected to their home communities and their families.”

The award is open to Indigenous students who demonstrate a passion for the IT sector and a vision of how the bursary will help them pursue their academic and professional goals in technology.

“Every time we establish a new bursary or contribute to education, I’m reminded of the many students facing challenges, uncertain about how they’ll make it through the next few days, let alone a semester or degree program. Knowing that we can help even a few of those students is incredibly meaningful. These bursaries aim to ease their financial burdens and hopefully inspire them to keep pursuing their dreams. We are extremely proud of all the recipients and deeply grateful to the University of Saskatchewan for allowing us the chance to make a difference.”

WBM’s March to a Million goal represents the company’s long-term commitment to positively impacting the provinces where we live and work by supporting community-driven initiatives. The bursary at the University of Saskatchewan is just one step toward achieving this goal and creating a more equitable future for students entering the IT sector.
